Sullivan’s is an ISRI Circle of Safety Excellence™ Member

ISRI COSE

You may have noticed a new looking icon in our site footer recently. It’s The Circle of Safety Excellence logo, or also known as COSE. COSE is an initiative offered by the Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries, or ISRI,  (which Sullivan’s is already a member of) to help improve worker safety in the recycling industry.

What is it?

The key to this initiative is the establishment of a platform – the Circle – within which like-minded companies voluntarily come forward to share safety data and best practices for the betterment of their own safety operation, and at the same time be recognized by ISRI for their commitment to safety.

Who can join?

The ISRI Circle of Safety Excellence™ is open to all ISRI members committed to operating safely and is designed to bring together those companies willing to share certain specified injury statistical data in order for them to be able to benchmark their operations and learn from each other. Membership in the Circle of Safety Excellence is a demonstration of an individual company’s commitment to continuous improvement, and the industry’s commitment to the safety of all of our employees and the communities we serve.

The criteria for joining the program includes:

  • Willingness to share the following company injury frequency rate data by March 1st of each year:
o LTI (Lost Time Injury Frequency Rate)
o DART (Days Away, Restricted work activity and/or Job Transfer)
o TCIR (Total Case Injury Rate)
o CSA data (if your company has a fleet)
  • Company must have in place key elements of a safety management program
  • Company must commit to continuous safety improvement
  • Must have ISRI.org website username and password credentials

All Active ISRI members located within the United States and Canada, who process or consume scrap material and are committed to operating safely, are invited to apply to be part of the Circle. The goal of the Circle is to help companies improve their operations so that eventually all ISRI members will be proud members of the Circle of Safety Excellence.

We are truly honored and excited to earn this membership and be recognized for our ongoing support for workplace safety in our industry. You can learn more about the ISRI Circle of Safety Excellence on their website at www.isri.org.
